Region VII Central Visayas outlasted Region V Bicol Region in three thrilling sets (26-24, 22-25, 25-14) in the Palarong Pambansa 2024 Secondary Boys’ Volleyball Tournament at the University of San Jose Recoletos-Basak Campus on Friday, July 12.
In the early part of the first set, Region VII struggled to receive and read the attack of their opponent, causing an early lead by Region V. However, Region VII still managed to regain its momentum through their agile net and floor defense and snatched the first set with a score of 26-24.

A head-to-head exchange of attacks and service aces from both teams happened in the second set. Ultimately, Region V’s consistent powerful attacks and minimized unforced errors helped them dominate and close the second set 22-25.
Region VII completely dominated in the third set. Their team captain, setter Bayang made a series of excellent plays throughout the third set, making it difficult for Region 5 to read their attacks. Additionally, Region VII dominated the blocking game, further stifling Region V’s offensive efforts. Creating a significant 11-point deficit and securing the match with an impressive score of 25-15.

Marc Lemuel Tangon, open hitter of Region VII was declared as Player of the Game who delivered an outstanding performance with 16 points 13 attacks, 2 blocks, and 1 service ace.
With this win, Region VII Central Visayas now holds a 2-0 win-loss record and will face Region X Northern Mindanao for their third game on Saturday, July 13.
