ACI Plus, the maintenance services business segment of Aboitiz Construction, celebrated the first anniversary of its routine maintenance support operations at the GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) thermal power plant last June 11.
Started in June 2025, the milestone marks the successful completion of the first year of a three-year contract dedicated to delivering essential operational support. The partnership ensures that both critical energy facilities continue to run at peak efficiency to support the grid.
To guarantee seamless, round-the-clock operations, ACI Plus has deployed a highly skilled workforce of 173 personnel on-site. This team manages a project scope that spans technical and operational tasks. Among their core day-to-day activities are mechanical maintenance and repairs, conveyor system upkeep, equipment inspections, and strict preventive and corrective maintenance.
The team also handles crucial facility logistics, including inventory and warehouse management for materials, tools, and spare parts. On-site ground maintenance, ranging from coal spillage management and housekeeping to grass cutting, is regularly conducted to ensure optimal site conditions.
GMEC is a 632 MW coal-fired capacity located in Mariveles, Bataan.
“We are grateful for this partnership with GMEC. Reaching our first anniversary is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated team on the ground, while proudly providing jobs for the local communities in Bataan. As we enter the second year of this contract, ACI Plus remains fully committed to executing our tasks with the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency to ensure that these vital facilities reliably power Filipino homes,” said Sebastian Aboitiz, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of ACI Plus.
A stringent focus on safety remains at the core of the project, which has earned ACI Plus safety recognitions and awards from GMEC. The ACI Plus workforce strictly implements site safety standards and zero-harm compliance protocols alongside daily site coordination.
Moving into its second year of operations, Aboitiz Construction continues to reinforce its commitment to being “Engineered for Excellence,” establishing its position as a reliable partner in the country’s maintenance and energy support sectors while providing employment opportunities for local communities.
