Aboitiz Construction has successfully graduated its latest batch of scholars under its Skills Training towards Employment (STEM) program, all of whom have now been hired as pipefitters for ACI Plus’ maintenance services project in Claver, Surigao del Norte.

The 20 scholars in Bukidnon completed their training between March and April of this year. Offered free of charge in partnership with Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., the initiative aims to address the rising demand for skilled industrial workers and reduce workforce turnover by building a pool of qualified local talent for ACI Plus’ expanding maintenance sites across Mindanao.

Implemented in partnership with TESDA and the Maces Skills Training Institute in Kitaotao, Bukidnon, the program concluded with all participants completing the course and earning their National Certificate (NC II)—a recognized industry qualification for pipefitting.

Aboitiz Construction, alongside Aboitiz Foundation, TESDA Region X, and Maces Skills Training Institute, recently graduated 20 Bukidnon scholars in Pipefitting NC II course under its Skills Towards Employment Program, all of whom were hired for ACI Plus in Claver, Surigao del Norte.

“This initiative is part of our continued efforts to empower Filipino workers, especially in the communities where we operate, through skills-building and employment opportunities. As we expand our maintenance support across multiple plants, these measures are essential in ensuring that we uphold the highest safety standards in our operations,” said Karmine Andrea Ching, Senior Assistant Vice President of Aboitiz Construction.

To date, Aboitiz Construction’s STEM program has produced a total of 215 TESDA-certified graduates from Batangas, Cebu, and Bukidnon. Of the total graduates, around 85% have been successfully hired by the company and the rest have found gainful employment in roles that match their acquired skills.

This initiative reflects Aboitiz Construction’s commitment to empowering individuals through education and training, equipping them with skills that support their long-term career success.
