Implement flood measures or face more floods

A planning expert is urging LGUs in Metro Cebu to implement flood control measures or face more flood-related issues. Dr. Danilo Jaque said in a forum conducted by RAFI that existing flood control infrastructure in Metro Cebu can no longer handle heavy rainfall. Last July 1, when severe flooding hit Cebu, rainfall was measured at 97 mm per hour, almost double than the heaviest recorded six years ago at 59 mm per hour.

If we talk about the watershed approach, it should not be the responsibility of one, but all LGUs that host the watershed. Dr. Danilo Jaque.

PRO 7: Who do you want dead? The criminals or cops?

Though he welcomes a probe on the death of suspects in police operations PRO 7 regional director Chief SUpt. Noli Talino thinks it is still better that it’s the criminals that end up dead than the cops pursuing them.

The police should get them first. We don’t want our policemen to die. Just like what the chief PNP said, when the smoke cleared, the one who should be down on the ground is the drug pusher, not the policemen. The instruction to us is very clear: if they fight back, we have to get them first. PRO 7 regional director Chief Supt. Noli Talino.
