Domestic travelers of Philippine Airlines (PAL) flying out of Cebu are in for a premium class treat with the opening of the new PAL Mabuhay Lounge at the ground level of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport on August 1, 2023.
The 300-square meter sleek and modern facility can accommodate 114 guests and is open to PAL Business Class and Comfort Class passengers as well as Mabuhay Miles Elite, Premier Elite, and Million Miler members.
“The Mabuhay Lounge serves as a sanctuary of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of travel. We would like to thank our PAL Chairman & CEO, Dr. Lucio C. Tan, and PAL Vice Chairman, Mrs. Carmen Tan, for their leadership and support in making this milestone possible,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng.
The facility is part of PAL’s “strong commitment to build up Mactan-Cebu as our fastest growing hub – the heart of a robust network of PAL flights linking Cebu with 19 domestic and regional destinations,” he added.
PAL passengers can now enjoy the comfort of a spacious lounge with plush seats that come with private charging outlets and wifi connectivity. They also have access to a buffet station offering an array of delectable food and refreshments, including the signature PAL arroz caldo.
The Mabuhay Lounge also has VIP shower rooms as well as gender specific and PWD rest rooms equipped with the full range of amenities for the convenience and comfort of passengers.
Colors and lines evoke luxury and comfort in a distinctive space that allows passengers a chance to relax and recharge while waiting for their flights.
Architect Adrian T. Chua of ATCAA, the company that worked on the facility’s overall look, said the peg for the design is modernist Filipiniana because they wanted to highlight the company’s legacy.
He added that the vibrant color tones include the signature blue of #PhilippineAirlines because the goal was to introduce the passengers to PAL even before they boarded the plane. The use of wooden touches was intended to depict the warmth of Filipino culture.
