Mutated mosquitos, 159 percent increase in Dengue cases
Region 7 is now on red alert after the Department of Health announced a 159 percent increase in dengue cases this year. As of June 4, DOH reported 5,728 cases and 46 deaths from dengue fever, a steep increase to the 2,212 cases last year. There were only nine deaths last year in the same period.
Before, mosquitos only thrived during the rainy season, now they thrive even during summer. Dr. Selby Blanco, DOH 7 Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

Munti drug lord ordered pastor’s death.
A day after Baptist pastor Crisostomo Jun Maternal Jr. was shot to death, police arrested Garry Daclan, who admitted hiring shooters to kill the pastor for P30,000. Daclan said he got worried after seeing pastor having lunch with members of the Armed Forces and assumed he was reporting on their illegal activities. The AFP members were in Bonbon only to help in the Brigada Eskwela of the Bonbon Elementary School. He also said their boss from Muntinlupa ordered the killing of Pastor.

Digong offers P5M per drug lord’s head
The tough-talking President-elect Rodrigo Duterte reiterated his offer of a P5 million bounty per drug lord slain and added he would be as tough against policemen, other law enforces and even elected officials who are protecting criminals.
