PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and its value brand TNT make their final push enjoining customers in Eastern Visayas to register their SIMs, as the July 25 deadline nears.

TNT attended Leyte Province’s Pintados Festival and Tacloban City’s Sangyaw Festival, taking advantage of the events to intensify its SIM Registration efforts to assist locals and festival goers in registering their SIM cards.

“We at Smart and TNT are increasing our efforts to help our customers register their SIMs as the deadline for SIM Registration nears. Festivals and other large-scale events provide an excellent opportunity to serve our subscribers and further our goal of bringing more facilitated SIM registration booths closer to communities,” said Roy Nebrija, Area Development Manager for Eastern Visayas at Smart.

TNT set up a #TNTSaya Booth at Leyte Park Grounds in Tacloban City, where subscribers enjoyed free treats and promos and received assistance from TNT and Smart personnel for their SIM Registration queries.

These efforts aim to fast-track SIM Registration among mobile users in the province and provide help to subscribers who may need assistance, especially senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and subscribers using older model phones.

Apart from the SIM Registration efforts, TNT also boosted the festivals through merchandise and connectivity support. TNT powered Miss Teen Pintados 2023 and Miss Pintados 2023 and brought Filipino artist Patrick Quiroz to Tacloban City to perform for the Sangyawan Music Festival crowd.

With the SIM Registration deadline extended, Smart and TNT are stepping up efforts to assist their subscribers in complying with the SIM Registration Act by bringing more facilitated registration desks closer to the public, including activations at festivals.

Smart and TNT also continue to work closely with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on the nationwide SIM Registration campaign, as well as engage with universities, cooperatives, and other communities to ensure that no subscriber gets left behind.

These initiatives demonstrate Smart and TNT’s commitment to supporting the government’s SIM Registration campaign in order to safeguard Filipinos from text scams and other SIM-enabled criminal activities.
